The Greening Campaign is a non-for-profit that has helped more than 200 communities over the past 15 years, and 2024 was Bishopstoke's turn. The campaign envisages communities where residents use less energy; waste is prevented by reducing, reusing, or sharing; nature can move freely along natural corridors in and between gardens; communities grow more of their own, climate-resistant food; are resilient against climate impacts such as flooding and heatwaves; and families and individuals are healthier and happier.

Thank you to everyone who came to our 'Energy Event', and to the great speakers who told us new things about saving energy, also to the people who gave their time to come along and share their expertise. It was a real success and all my homemade biscuits were eaten!
Greening Bishopstoke is working with the Greening Campaign to bring support to residents across the community to tackle fuel bills by making small changes to upgrade their homes. We have been providing you with Thermal Images which show where heat is leaking from your homes and now we are offering you the opportunity to attend an event which will provide some further, expert advice and the announcement of the new Hampshire hub offering free support to those needing advice and trusted links to experts.
What will you learn at the event?
- Overview of the energy system in the UK. Bean Beanland - Heat Pump Federation.
- Interpreting your thermal images and small home hacks - Terena Plowright - Greening Campaign.
- The new hub for free advice on grants, getting the right advice for retrofit, and how to understand what your home needs to reduce bills - Stuart Mills from the Environment Centre.
- SoSolar - Solar Panels - Richard Mould-Ryan.
Thermal Imaging of your home?
Greening Bishopstoke are offering free thermal imaging of homes in Bishopstoke and wondered if you would like to have this done? The images show if there are any places in your home where heat is escaping, and perhaps highlight easy ways you can save money on energy.
It is now cold/dark enough to take these images so we can visit your home sometime in January. You don't need to be home, we just need access to each side of your house (front, back and side if there is one).
The heating needs to be on and all front/porch lights need to be turned off.
Let us know if you would like us to image your home by sending an email to greeningbishopstoke@gmail.com with your home address and telephone number so we can contact you.

We made raised beds and planted a veggie plot, built 2 compost bins, installed a water butt, tidied a rose bed, made a bug hotel and created the start of a pollinator patch. What a team!
